Once your baby is starting to become more mobile we will begin to integrate them gradually into the next room in our Nursery.
Every child develops differently and we will carefully monitor your child so that they move only when ready on to the new exciting adventures in the 1-2 year old's room.
There is a whole new world of activities available for this age group - including continuous provision of dolls, home corner, sand and water play, a soft cosy corner, books and construction equipment to keep them very much entertained.
Children can really enjoy meal times at this age and staff are encouraged to join in at meal-times and eat the same meals with the children, as we feel this shows a positive role-model to the children.
This room shares a dedicated baby changing area with the adjourning Baby room. For any children that parents begin to toilet-train, our staff will work closely with you to enable continuity of their new routine. Children will be allocated their own 'potty' for the duration of their training so they know it is their own. This will be sterilised after every use and labeled with your child's name. We can work alongside you to incorporate 'sticker charts' or 'reward structures' to mirror their pattern at home and of course keep you informed of their progress daily. We would be grateful if spare clothes could be provided at this time as there are always little 'accidents' at this stage!
Children will have the opportunity to play in our outdoor play area every day. They will be able to help nuture the plants, play with sand and water, enjoy the various toys and join in with group games and activities.
Your child will also be issued with a daily contact book. This will give you a daily indication of feeding, sleeping and nappy/potty/toilet patterns. There is a space every day for feedback from parents/carers too.
As with all our rooms, your child will be allocated a 'Keyworker' who monitors and records your child and his/her achievements and takes an active part in planning of all room activities to ensure their key childrens' developmental needs are met.
See you soon
